So that was it - I was hooked. In August 1997 I started learning to fly Microlight Aircraft at the
Moorland Flying Club
based at Davidstow Moor, an Ex WW II aerodrome in North Cornwall. The training was based upon
a
Thruster TST aeroplane, a Microlight with side-by-side seating.
This is my Logbook taken in March 1998. It shows four lessons at Davidstow.
I took a whole week off work
to do some serious flying but sadly the weather was really crap and I managed only
4 hours in the entire week. The minumum requirement for the Private Pilots' Licence (Aeroplanes)
Microlights is 25 hours! The Thruster was a really enjoyable aeroplane to fly though, and these can be
bought used for only £5,000 or so.
