I've always been a bit of an anorak when it came to aeroplanes. As a kid I used to make plastic Airfix kits, like a lot of kids I suppose. Later on I 'discovered' a natty control line model in the loft. According to Dad when questioned, it was once my big brothers.

He apparently wasn't too keen on it, and finally gave it up when he left the model on the driveway. Needless to say Dad came home and drove straight over it! It actually wasn't in that bad a state, and mucho hacking of balsa later it was, err, in one piece if nothing else.

In my Teens I used to build and fly (Err, or is that 'crash until a smouldering mass'?) radio-controlled models. In fact, I still have a half-finished fibreglass F4 Phantom model I bought as a kit many years ago from the model show that was at the racecourse down near Brighton somewhere.
