In The Circuit
Wrong. There was. Another aeroplane, same height, opposite direction coming at us from 90 degrees and almost totally hidden by our wing. I saw it late and took avoiding action. My Examiner seemed to have a casual look at the departing aeroplane whilst saying softly "That was close". I wondered how much more he would take before ordering me back. Failure seemed seconds away. We continued and did some steep turns, stalls and general handling things. They went fine. I was told he expected me to keep the height to within 200 feet of my nominated height during the various maneovers. Even during the 60-degree turns I reckon I was with 20 feet or so. That's Better. "We have a power failure" he said. "Er, have we?" I enquired. |
