The Test
So there I was, near the end of the runway in use at good old Popham airfield, with My Examiner in the back. Did all my checks like a good student, proceeded to do a clearing 360degree turn to look around the circuit and see if it was, in fact, clear; the voice came... "Err, they've changed the runway in use - did you not hear?" Doh! I had not. I'd been so busy head down doing the checklist things that the general broadcast had not filtered throught to the important bits (i.e. my brain). Silently cursing, I imagined Mr Examiner doing various amounts of tickings or crossings on his exam results sheet. 'That can't be good' thought I. Next Up. There we were, having taken off and in the climb at around 600-700 feet. Not much to go wrong here is there? |
