So there I was, near the end of the runway in use at good old Popham airfield, with My Examiner in the back. Did all my checks like a good student, proceeded to do a clearing 360degree turn to look around the circuit and see if it was, in fact, clear; the voice came... "Err, they've changed the runway in use - did you not hear?"

Doh! I had not. I'd been so busy head down doing the checklist things that the general broadcast had not filtered throught to the important bits (i.e. my brain). Silently cursing, I imagined Mr Examiner doing various amounts of tickings or crossings on his exam results sheet.

'That can't be good' thought I.
