Chris was just landing as I went past the threshold on the downwind leg. On our
left was
a hot-air balloon not too far away. I was trying to keep a nice
sensible speed so as not to crowd anyone, and turned base.
When I turned for final, the sudden absence of something in my preflight became
glaringly
obvious. Yep, I couldn't see a sodding thing! It was by now about a
quarter to six in the
evening and we were landing into Sun. The carefully
cultivated garden on my canopy was
mocking me, I could 'sort of' make out
where Chris was on the runway, but wasn't sure.
So around we went, with our Rotax 462 not really even pretending to produce
full power. It's
an on-going problem that seems to be tricky to find. Still,
temperatures were good, the
climb was steady at 500fpm (down from 750) and
not really a major problem.
